Media Strategist / Public Relations Director Role & Resources

Role:

It takes A LOT to get something changed in the U.S.A., but it is worth it...
As a Media Director in charge of public relations, you have a TREMENDOUS amount of power over HOW your message is delivered and received by the public. Though propaganda isn’t your only tool, it is a powerful one. Your job, essentially, is to present YOUR SIDE of the issue in a way that is both memorable AND convincing. Also, you MUST answer the following questions ON YOUR OWN paper and share them with your group BEFORE deciding on how best to present your group's side of the issue to the whole class. Use the resources (internet and books) included herein to help you find the answers to these and other important questions you think of on your own.

1. What types of advertising about TAKING A STAND on issues have been used successfully in the past? Find examples.
2. How can your group’s stand on the issue be best presented in a convincing way?
3. What are some of the tools the media/advertising world uses that can be used to convince people of your point of view (THINK: commercials/ads for your FAVORITE products)?
4. How can your STAND be marketed like a product? Should it be?
5. Write one paragraph summarizing how YOU best think your stand should be presented in order to convince the most people in the class to agree with you. Include at least three details!
