The World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 Comes to HHS Media Center...

Hundreds of spectators got to witness the World's Fair of 1893 as recreated by Mr. James' classes. Students recreated such booths as Westinghouse Electricity and the Sewing Machine. Rootbeer floats, pancakes, and popcorn were "sold," and for the first time in history, "juicyfruit" gum was introduced to a very receptive crowd. Classes who visited the fair got to experience the first ever ferris wheel and motion picture through the kinetiscope. This ended up being a very worthwile experience for all involved. If you look at the picture to the left closely, you'll see someone walking around on stilts. We hope that you will be able to attend next year!
